Great Lakes Art & Gifts
Artist Statement:
I took art classes in high school and college, although I have no formal art degree. I dabbled in drawing, scrapbooking, and beading over the years, and started making my own beads out of polymer clay in 2008. The jewelry I make now incorporates my own beads into the designs in a wide variety of techniques.
I’ve always loved Mid-century Modern architecture and cars from the 1950s, and I finally checked an item off my bucket list and bought a 1959 Plymouth Fury in 2017. A short time later I visited Palm Springs, which is the epicenter for all things Mid-Mod. I took a lot of photos, and started dabbling with acrylic paints when I got home, painting from the photos I took. That was the start of my current obsession, painting vintage scenes, roadside signs, and classic cars. I’m a Lansing native, and love to incorporate Lansing landmarks past and present into my work. I sell my creations at area art and craft shows and year-round at Great Lakes Art and Gifts in Old Town.
